Elad is a Moatza Mikomit (Local Council) in the central part of Israel, populated entirely by  Haredi and religious residents and situated about 10 kilometers from the city of Petach Tikvah. Its area of jurisdiction is 2,700 dunim. Elad was declared a Moatza in 1998. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, in September 2005 Elad had a population of 22,600, the population growing at the annual rate of 26.3%.
